Screen grab from Zillow/MLS
A house on the real estate market in Marietta, Pennsylvania, for $297,000 comes with something you don’t see every day.
A cave.
A basement cave.
“Looking for that special house? Well, here it is!” the listing on Zillow.com says. “Come take a look at this contemporary home in Marietta. Starting outside, you see the beautiful patio area that opens up or closes for privacy. There is a hidden area for the trashcans too to keep the beautiful [aesthetic].”
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house also comes with a cave that has an entrance, weirdly enough, in the living room.
Other features of the 2,178-square-foot residence include:
-
Spacious kitchen
-
Natural light
-
Wooden beams
-
Built-in closets
The home turned heads on the popular real estate Facebook page Zillow Gone Wild as fans were both perplexed, and a little frightened, by the unusual feature.
“I like how they put those pics in the middle, then continue with the rest of the home tour like they didn’t just show an absolute dungeon hidden behind that door,” another pointed out.
“As seen on ‘48 Hours’!” someone joked.
“I mean, if they want to sell it they should advertise it as a timeout room, guaranteed to make your children listen,” one person said.
“On the one hand, it’s creepy as hell,” one person said. “On the other, it could make a good wine cellar.”
“Aaaand … how many ghosts reside there?” another asked. “Also, on a scale of Casper to violent poltergeist, what’s the temperament? I need to know if we can chill or if I need to hire an exorcist.”
“They didn’t do that right,” someone said. “It would have been way cooler if they had disguised the door to the cave as a revolving bookcase.”
“Cool house but you can’t convince me that Gollum isn’t coming out of that cave at night for his precious,” another joked.
“Not every day you see a home complete with a place to keep your pet dragon…” one person said.
Marietta is about 91 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
